Relatives have started to show up for the start of the Iditarod, so before Cole gets too caught up in the mandatory meetings and other pre-race stress, we decided to have a little fun. We took the dogs out for a short run and let Ross take his own team. The weather has gotten back up to the 40’s again, so the little snow we have been able to accumulate is fast fleeting again. As such, the bumps were numerous, but Ross hung on weel even in the tricky, windy trail sections. The only spot he had a hard time was on Coho Lake. For some reason he leaders decdided to try and take a short cut, ACROSS THE LAKE! This is always risky, but at this time of year year with the warm temperatures, leaving the shoreline is just plain dangerous, so we thankful he was able to call the leaders back to safety. Here’s some pics from the day. Check back soon as we will get other family members on the runners or in the sled bag soon.
